Chamarajanagar, Apr 8: In an incident which happened at Meenya near Hanur in this district on the evening of Friday April 6, a young lady became another victim of selfie craze.

The girl who lost her balance when taking selfie, and drowned in the reservoir, has been identified as Nikhita (18) from Bengaluru.

Nikhita was reportedly on a visit to the house of a relative in Meenya village here to spend college holidays. She was accompanied by a friend named Selvi. On Friday evening, Selvi and Nikhita along with four other friends, went to have a look at the picturesque Yarambadi reservoir. Nikhita was trying to click selfie by using her cellphone when she slipped, lost her balance, and fell into the reservoir below, it is gathered. Although her friends immediately jumped into the reservoir and made herculean efforts to save their friend, Nikhita, it is said, died as her feet got stuck in the sediment accumulated at the bottom of the reservoir.
