Mysuru, Apr 13: Officials working for teams entrusted with the task of monitoring possible incidents of violation of election code of conduct and flying squads have succeeded impounding goods valued at Rs 8.18 crore. From 11 assembly constituencies spread over the district, 108 complaints pertaining to violation of model code of conduct have been handled, as per information.

This information was given by deputy commissioner of the district, K B Sivakumar, who also is the district election officer. He was addressing a press conference here on Thursday April 12. "210 teams have been formed with the purpose of making sure that election code of conduct is complied with strictly. 150 monitoring teams, 93 flying squads and seven excise check posts have been keeping a close watch on the activities and taking measures as and when necessary," he explained.

Sivakumar stated that Rs 7.48 lac in cash, gold ornaments weighing 1.038 kg, liquor valued at Rs 2.33 lac, two borewell trucks, eight other vehicles and a microphone have been seized so far. Officials have raided 386 places, registered 108 cases, and taken 69 persons into custody, he added.

He revealed that seven contingents of paramilitary forces landed in the district on Thursday, out of which services of four will be utilized within the city and the other three will be deployed in rural areas within the district.
