Raichur: University professor found campaigning for Congress suspended from service

Raichur, May 8: A professor of Raichur Agricultural University, who was found to be actively canvassing support for Congress party through posts and messages in Facebook and WhatsApp, stands suspended from service forthwith.

Head of the department of economics of the university, Dr Jagruti Deshamanya is the person suspended. Registrar of the university, Jambunath Gutti, ordered her suspension for three months, pending investigation, with immediate effect for campaigning for a political party.

The professor in question reportedly campaigned against Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and BJP leader, Sriramulu through social websites. She also reportedly urged people to vote for Congress party. Electoral officials had recently recommended to the university seeking action against her as she is indirectly involved with politics.
