Mangaluru: Janardhana Poojary angry at leaders for walking away from press conference

Mangaluru, May 10: Veteran Congress leader and former union minister, B Janardhana Poojary, got angry at the attitude of Dakshina Kannada district Congress Committee president, Harish Kumar, and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee secretary, U B Venkatesh, for deserting his press conference and hurriedly making an exit after getting information that former union minister, P Chidambaram, was in the city.

Taking exception to this behaviour, Poojary questioned the culture of trailing the party leaders. He remarked that Chidambaram has come here on account of assembly election. He said that it might be detrimental to the interests of Congress if BJP leaders explain to people what Chidambaram has done.

Although he initially appreciated Ramanath Rai and predicted his victory, when the question of stopping midday meals to school children at Punacha and Kalladka through Kollur temple was mentioned, Poojary said that he has already held that stopping this aid was wrong. "Our district in-charge minister did a great thing. We do not need BJP to finish off Congress. Such Congressmen are enough for this task," he said wryly.
