Bengaluru, May 27: Several districts in the state continue to get heavy rainfall. Even as monsoon promises to enter Kerala on May 29 and Karnataka during first week of June, rain caused by surface wind lashed Kodagu, Bengaluru, Davanagere, Mysuru, Ramanagara, Kalanburagi and Dakshina Kannada districts on Saturday May 26.

A farmer was washed away while two others died out of lightning on Saturday.

A farmer was washed away after the Lakshmisagara check dam in Channagiri taluk, Davanagere district, overflowed due to incessant rain. A local farmer, Basappa, who was crossing the bridge, was washed away by the force of overflowing water as the water gained a height of five to six feet above the bridge level. The officials rushed to the spot and took preventive measures. They said that the farmer's body was not found till Saturday evening.

Savitri (35), resident of Nellikaru in Moodbidri, died in the early hours on Saturday after lightning struck her house. Another person in her house suffered injuries.

Hanamanta Shankrappa Serikar (35), a farmer from Sindol village in Bidar taluk died after lightning struck him on Saturday evening when he was working in the field.

Inflow into Kabini reservoir in Mysuru district suddenly rose to 2,000 cusecs on Saturday from 740 cusecs the previous day. By Saturday evening, the inflow further rose to 2,700 cusecs.

A 51-feet high statue of Jagadguru Revanasiddeshwara installed at Revaggi in Kalagi taluk, Kalaburagi district, fell to the ground. This statue had been installed during March laslt year. In addition, compound wall and electric poles in temple compound also fell. Power transformers all over Kalaburagi district were damaged and power supply was affected.

Prof S S M Gavaskar, scientist of Kanataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre, has warned that on account of heavy rain and strong wind in coastal areas of Karnataka during the next two days on account of pre-monsoon rainfall, force of waves is likely to increase.
