Bengaluru: Anupama Shenoy withdraws PIL on Hublot watch

Bengaluru, Jun 12: Former deputy superintendent of police and founder of Bharatiya Janashakti Congress Party, Anupama Shenoy, has withdrawn the public interest litigation (PIL) she had filed in the high court against the then chief minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, over luxury wrist watch said to have been gifted to him by someone.

Through the said application, Anupama had sought to entrust probe into the said watch to Central Bureau of Investigation. The petition was taken up for hearing by a division bench comprising chief justice, Dinesh Maheshwari and justice Krishna S Dikshit on Monday June 11.

After hearing the arguments for sometime, the bench expressed the opinion that the case appears to be very personal and no public interest appears to be involved in it. It suggested to the petitioner to continue legal options available to her in other ways rather than pursuing this PIL. As per this suggestion, advocate for the petitioner withdrew the petition.
