Bhatkal, Jun 15: After a bus and a car got involved in an accident near Bailoor cross near here on Thursday June 14 morning, a person lost his life.

A Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus and a Maruti Wagon R car were involved in the accident. Shekhar Kamshwar Naik (49) from Aghanashini in Kumta taluk,
who was in the car, died on the spot. His wife, Indira Naik and brother in law, Gopal Naik, escaped without injury.

The car which was heading towards Honnavar from Kumta, had been parked by the roadside near Bailoor cross. The bus, which was moving at considerable speed, hit the parked car in an effort to avoid hitting a vehicle coming from the opposite direction. As the bus hit the car from behind, Shekhar, who was sitting near the rear door of the car, died instantly. The car suffered extensive damage.

A case about this accident was registered at Murudeshwar police station.
