Beltangady: MLA asks officials to directly approach him, no role for middlemen

Beltangady, Jun 28: Local MLA, Harish Poonja asked village development officers to approach him without apprehension or fear if they have any advice, suggestions or proposals that are in the interests of development of their villages. He stressed that he does not appreciate interference by middlemen.

He addressed the gathering after inaugurating an eight-week basic training programme for village development officers appointed newly. The pogramme was held at Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project's centre for rural excellence at Layila here. He told the newly inducted officials that people's representatives get only five years to serve the people whereas government officials have this opportunity till they retire. Therefore, he requested them to utilize this opportunity to serve the people. He said that village development officers can play a valuable role in ensuring that benefits of government schemes reach even the last person in the chain.

Calling upon the trainees to join hands with him to develop this taluk, he promised to spend a day with them during this training progrmme.

MLC, Harish Kumar asked the new recruits to serve the people by treating them as God. He advised them to acquire awareness on latest technologies use them to serve the people.

Taluk panchayat president, Vedavathi and training coordinator, Magha Paltdy were present. 47 new recruits belonging to Dakshina Kannada and Davanagere districts are undergoing this programme.
