Bengaluru, Jun 30: Anticipatory bail applications moved by six persons facing charges of helping supporters of water resources minister, D K Shivakumar, in regularizing black money, were on Friday June 29 dismissed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) special court here.

N Nanjappa, first division clerk in election department of Kanakapura tahsildar's office, personal assistant of MP, D K Suresh, B Padmanabhaiah, former personal assistant of D K Shivakumar, S Sheshagiri, S Padmarekha and Shivananand had sought anticipatory bail in the court. The court upheld CBI's objection to the sanction of bail to accused as the case is still in the stage of investigation and rejected bail.

The union government had demonetized currency noes with face value of Rs 500 and 1,000 on November 8, 2016. There were allegations that chief manager of Corporation Bank's Ramanagara branch, B Prakash and others had illegally converted demonetized currency notes in large qualities. CBI had filed a case in this connection on April 17 last year. Of them, Nanjappa has been accused of misusing the powers vested with him and creating 120 fake voter identity cards, which were used to exchange demonetized currency notes.
