Kasaragod, Jul 1: One person died in an accident that occured on the morning of Sunday, July 1, at Chowki - Kallangai on national highway near here between a tanker and car.

The deceased is identified as Sajeer (27), who was driving the car. He is a resident of Kunnil near Mogral Puttur. The car which Sajeer was driving collided with the tanker that was plying from Kannur to Mangaluru.

The naming ceremony of Sajeer's child was to take place in the afternoon of Sunday. He was going to Kasaragod in this regard to buy necessary grocery for the ceremony.

The car is totally mangled due to the impact of the crash. Though the police, fire service personnel and locals brought Sajeer out of the badly damaged car and took him to the hospital, he succumbed to the injuries sustained during the crash. Sajeer was doing the work of supplying food. The driver of the tanker also got injured in the accident.

Due to the accident, traffic got affected for some time on the national highway.
