Udupi, Jul 2: Press club day was observed by Udupi District Working Journalists’ Association in collaboration with Udupi press club at Jagannatha Sabha Bhavana, here on Sunday July 1.

Raj Gudi, assistant lecturer, School of Communication, Manipal inaugurated the programme by unveiling the copy of first Kannada newspaper Mangaluru Samachara. Ganesh Prasad Pandelu, president of UDWJA presided over the programme.

Addressing the programme Raj Gudi said, “My life changed after reading one newspaper article. Media has a power of changing one’s life. Media should not go by one sided opinion but it should create an atmosphere to create an opinion.”

“India is a fast developing country and the Indian media is going quite opposite when compared to other countries. People are nowhere running behind TRP instead they are behind getting Facebook likes. Indian media is unique and cannot be compared. Content is the key and language is the master. Journalists should adjust themselves with the changing trend. Otherwise, survival would be challenging,” he said.
