Nacional down Botafogo in Copa Sudamericana tie

Asuncion, Aug 2 (IANS): Paraguayan club Nacional won 2-1 against Brazilian team Botafogo in the first leg of the second round of the Copa Sudamericana football tournament here.

The Paraguayan team will face Botafogo again on August 16 in Rio de Janeiro, where the Brazilians hope to make the difference against a rival who on Tuesday had opportunities but lacked accuracy in front of Saulo's goal, reports EFE news agency.

In the ninth minute on Wednesday, Nacional's Danilo Santacruz scored a goal with the help from Celso Ayala, but about half an hour later, in the 31st minute, Botafogo's Luiz Fernando managed to equalise at 1-1.

The winning goal for the home team came in the 51st minute by Juan Vieyra.

The Botafogo players constantly unleashed pressure against their rivals, who tried to hold them off the lines to preserve their lead.
