Sullia: Two drug peddlers arrested, ganja and vehicles seized

Sullia, Aug 19: Police under the leadership of DCIB police inspector Sunil Y Nayak intercepted a motor cycle and an auto rickshaw near Vivekananda circle, Kasaba village here on August 18 and arrested two men accused of illegally selling ganja.

The arrested have been identified as Theerthaprasad (25), resident of Kasaba village, Sullia, and Vinayaka (30), resident of Chickamudnur village, Puttur taluk. Two cases of peddling ganja are pending against Theerthaprasad at Sullia police station and one case relating to illegal trade is pending against Vinayaka at Puttur police station.

The operation was conducted after receiving definite information. The two men tried to flee after they saw policemen approaching towards them. They were chased, surrounded and questioned.

Ganja weighing 1.39 kg and the vehicles used for the transport and trade of ganja were seized by the police. The total value of seized items is about Rs 2,42,190. The accused and the seized items were handed over to Sullia police station for further action.

The operation was conducted by staff Laxman K G, Naryana, Udaya Gowda, Pravin M, Taranath S, Pravin Rai, Shonshah and Suresh in the leadership of DCIP police inspector Sunil Y Nayak.
