Bengaluru, Aug 22: It is gathered that the meeting of the coordination committee of the coalition government is not happening because of the ongoing cold war between chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, and chairman of the committee and former chief minister Siddaramaiah.
It had been decided to hold the coordination committee meeting every month to ensure smooth functioning of the state government. But during the last three months, only two meetings have been held. A meeting had been fixed on July 28, but chief minister, Kumaraswamy, was on tour. Therefore, Siddaramaiah went to his constituency, Badami. The committee has not met ever since.

A meeting had earlier been held specifically to arrive at a consensus on the controversy over the necessity of presentation of fresh budget by the new government, as Siddaramaiah felt that it was unnecessary. Thereafter no meeting of the committee has been held. It is said that Siddaramaiah has been evincing interest in holding the meeting, but the chief minister has been citing pressure of work to set aside time for the meeting. Some even accuse deputy chief minister, Dr G Parameshwar, of siding with the chief minister in making sure that the committee does not meet.
Several legislators have complained to Siddaramaiah, claiming that Congress legislators are not having their say in the coalition government and that the recommendations of party MLAs are not getting any weightage. It is said that in case of transfers, recommendations of sitting Congress MLAs are being overlooked, and wishes of defeated JD(S) legislators are being met. There have been allegations of H D Revanna interfering with transfers in all departments.
While Siddaramaiah is curious to raise these topics at the coordination committee meeting, the meeting is not happening.
As floods have been affecting Kodagu now, the committee meeting is likely to be put off again.
