Mangaluru, Sep 2: Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath released the badges to be worn by the volunteers of Episcopal Ordination programme on Sunday, September 2 at Rosario cultural hall.
“God has given an opportunity to all volunteers to witness the great event. When we commit mistakes, we go to priest and he has right to forgive our sins. When we commit mistakes against the priest or bishop there is no contrition for it,” Kamath said.
He requested all volunteers to work hard and make the event a great success. He promised full cooperation to the programme and assured to fulfill all expectations. He conveyed his best wishes to the new bishop as well as the outgoing bishop.

Mangaluru bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza appreciated the good will of the MLA and said, “You are ours and we are yours.” He said every volunteer must be enthusiastic to take up work. “The success of the programme depends on the volunteers. You have freely come forward to render your service that will be rewarded by God and Our Lady of Rosary,” the bishop said to the 650 volunteers present.
After the formal programme the concern persons gave instructions and guidelines to volunteers.
Chief programme coordinator Fr J B Crasta, Fr Rupesh Madtha, Sushil Noronha were present on the dais.
PRO of the diocese Fr Victor Vijay Lobo, BJP district minority president Joylus D’Souza, BJP minority president (Mangaluru City South) Gladwin H D’Silva, corporator Lateef, the conveners and members of various committees were present.
Fr J B Crasta led the prayer, convenor Sushil Noronha welcomed the gathering, co-convenor Fr Rupesh Madtha rendered the vote of thanks, and Fr Flavian Lobo compered the programme.
The ordination programme to be held on September 15 will be a grand one with more than 30 bishops from all over country gracing the occasion. Over 15,000 people are expected to attend the programme along with religious and local, state and national political leaders.
