Udupi: Adarsha Hospital and Poorna Prajna College celebrate World Heart Day

Udupi, Sep 26: “Yoga is very important for one’s life,” said Sri Vidyadeesha Theerta Swamiji of Palimaru Math at the inaugural function of World Heart Day celebrations on September 22 at Rajangana.

The programme was organised by Adarsha Hospital under the aegis of Poorna Prajna College, Udupi.

A procession was carried out as part of World Heart Day celebration with the theme ‘Nimma Nade Hrudayada Kadege (your walk towards heart)’.

Palimaru Swamiji addressing the gathering said, “Human body is an asset. It is a gift of god. We must keep our health in good condition, which is worth crores of asset. Creating awareness about sound health must start from childhood.”

Sri Ishapriya Swamiji, junior swamiji of Admar Math said, “During ancient period, human led an eco-friendly and systematic life, but now his health has suffered due to anti-nature life style. This has created anxiety and mental pressure leading to cardiac problems. If a person has good thoughts, work and creativity, his life’s value will increase and there will be no complaint of sickness.”

G N Chandrashekhar, medical director of Adasha Hospital said, “Urbanisation and today’s modern life style leads to disease. Due to this, about 50% of people are getting Cardiac problems. Pressure in daily life, fatty food, and habit of tasty junk food are the reasons for overweight. This is how people become victims of heart diseases.”

Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat speaking at the valedictory ceremony said, “Any person can get cardiac related problems. There is no differentiation of rich and poor. We can prevent it by systematic food system and adopting regular yoga.”

Yoga was performed by students with music being played in the background.

Nursing college students also took part in the procession.

Dinakar Babu, president, zilla panchayat Udupi, Yashpal Suvavrna, president, Fishing Federation, Umesh Shetty, secretary, Adarsha Hospital, Manohar Shetty, businessman, Bhuvanendra Kediyoor, chairman and managing director, Hotel Kediyoor, Geethanjali Suvarna, member, zilla panchayat, Pradeep Kumar, advocate and others were present.

G N Chandrashekhar, medical director of Adasha Hospiatal welcomed the gathering. Prakash rendered the vote of thanks. Diago Quadres compered the programme.
