Udupi, Sep 28: The five day art expo ‘Expression 2018’ by Chithrakala Mandira Kala Vidyalaya Jangama Math, Udupi was inaugurated by senior drawing teacher Dinamani Shastri of Government High school Brahmavar, at Vibhuthi art gallery here on Friday, September 28.

“The art gallery has an inspiring atmosphere. Art is a natural quality of a human. In India there is evidence that art existed even during the Sindhu civilization. It was even picked up by Dravidians and Aryans. Indian art is always unique and stands at the top at the Global level. Indian art forms connect to its viewers emotionally. Foreigners give priority to realism in art rather than emotion. There is versatility in our drawing. We express our feelings through painting,” Shastri said.

He also spoke on the need to promote original Indian art. “Warli art and Kaavi art forms are slowly disappearing. Let us preserve our rich heritable art forms. We should never give up on our original art forms even though there is contemporary form,” he said.

Three art forms such as traditional, contemporary and modern done with acrylic, water colours and mixed types were exhibited.

U C Niranjan, director, Chithrakala Mandira presided over the programme.
