Mangaluru: Rosary feast to be celebrated on Oct 4

Mangaluru, Oct 1: The month of October is known as the month of Rosary in the Catholic Church. On the occasion of Rosario Cathedral Church completing 450 years, 2017-2018 has been dedicated to the devotion of Our Lady of Rosary in the diocese here. In this context St Anthony’s Ashram Jeppu; St Vincent Ferrer Church Valencia; St Joseph Church Jeppu and St Rita Church Cascia will celebrate the Rosary feast on October 4.

Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza the emeritus Bishop of Mangaluru will preside over the holy mass at 5 pm at St Vincent Ferrer Church which will be followed by a procession to St Anthony’s Ashram Jeppu. Bhaskara Moily mayor of the city will flag off the procession.



The devotion of rosary will be observed during the procession by reciting and singing the rosary. A decorated statue of Mother Mary along with tableau depicting the different apparitions of Mother Mary will add beauty and devotion to the procession. At the end of the procession at the Jeppu Ashram there will be a preaching highlighting the importance of family prayer. Besides this various associations will sing hymns in honour of Mother Mary. Thousands of people are expected to participate in the programme. The religious institutions like Prashanth Nivas, Holy Rosary Convent, Gerosa Convent, Roshani Nilaya, Cheshire Home will collaborate in this devotion promoting programme.
