Udupi: Gang tries to extort money, injures person with blade

Udupi, Oct 1: A gang, which tried to extort money from a person, slashed him with a blade in the process. This incident is reported from KSRTC bus stand in the city on the afternoon of Saturday October 29.

Naveen S Ullagaddi (21), a resident of Haveri was sleeping in the bus stand. When he suddenly got up due to a commotion that was taking place in the bus stand. He found three people standing beside him. One of them asked Naveen to give him money. When Naveen denied, the culprit pushed Naveen. When Naveen screamed to seek the attention of other people in the bus stand, the culprits ran away. However, before escaping the looters inflicted injuries on the chest and stomach with the blade.

A case in this regard is registered at Udupi city police station. It may be recalled that the police have arrested a similar gang who used to extract money from the gullible passengers in and around Udupi service bus stand, city bus stand and KSRTC bus stand. However, now with this incident, the public is again scared and tense while waiting for transport at these bus stands.
