Kaup, Oct 2: “People in the country are disappointed with government because of chain of scams, false promises, price rise and financial irregularities worth several crores in Rafale deal. Modi government which had come to power assuring clean administration is on the verge of rejection by people because of cheating people,” said Congress district president Janardhan Thonse.

He was speaking after presiding over protest meeting held in Kaup market on Monday against central government’s policy of price rise and irregularities such as Rafale deal.

Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said that people are anguished against union government. “MP Shobha Karandlaje who used to protest on the streets even for trivial purposes should clear the confusions regarding central government among people. However as she is missing, we will have to request Modi to find her. BJP which had promised to give the sky in the hands, making people shed tears is condemnable,” he said.

Former MLA Gopala Bhandary said that BJP government is misusing power. “It is playing with the lives of soldiers through surgical strikes. It is trying to hit the economy of the country with dictatorial attitude. It is cheating people by provoking religious sentiments. It is necessary for people to wake up against such bad government,” he said.

AICC member Amrith Shenoy said that cheating of Rs 90,000 crore through 23,000 cheating cases have occurred in the country in the present central government’s four years and five month term. “The government which said that it will bring black money back to the country has brought about danger for the future of the country by allowing cheats to go out from the country. If BJP wins again, such incidents will continue and become cause for another Jalianwala Bagh tragedy. Therefore, voters should remain alert from now itself,” he said.

Former MLA Gopala Bhandary, AICC member Amrith Shenoy, KPCC secretary Veronica Cornelio, Murali Shetty, ladies wing Congress district president Geetha Wagle, zilla panchayat member Wilson Rodrigues, Taluk panchayat member Dinesh Kotian, Municipal council president Malini, Y Sukumar, Shivaji S Suvarna, Abdul Azeez, Prabhavathi Salian, Deepak Kumar Ermal, Ganesh Kotian, Vinaya Ballal, Gulam Mohammed, Melwin D’ Souza and others were present.

Hundreds of activists joined protest rally earlier from near Kaup Vidyaniketan School shouting slogans against Modi lead government and several anti-people policies of the central government.

Kaup Block Congress president Navinchandra Shetty welcomed. Block Congress secretary Ameer Kaup thanked all.
