Belagavi, Oct 2: Congress activists, who are said to be supporters of MLA Satish Jarkiholi, created ruckus in the campus of Rani Chennamma University here on Monday October 1 accusing the administration of the university for not inviting the MLA and MP of the constituency for the blood donation camp that was organized in the campus of the university.

In addition, the hooligans also manhandled the chancellor and registrar of the university and assaulted the students who tried to protect the chancellor and registrar from the blows of the miscreants. Some students received minor injuries in the melee. The situation in the campus of the university was tense during this attack by the miscreants.

On the morning of Monday October 1, a blood donation camp was organized at the Kuvempu auditorium of the university. Many people including Shivananda Hosamani, chancellor, Siddu Algur, registrar and Parashuram Dudgunti, finance officer of the university were present. During this time more than 50 Congress activists forcefully entered the auditorium under the leadership of Siddu Sunagara, zilla panchayat member of Kakati and Ramanna Gooli, Congress leader and started sloganeering against the university. They went straight toward the registrar and got into an argument and pulled his shirt and tried to assault him. The students of the university who rushed to the help of the registrar were also thrashed by the Congress goons and were abused in filthy language also. The tables, chairs and window panes were smashed by the miscreants.
