Bengaluru: DyCM orders comprehensive land survey of all BDA properties by March

Bengaluru, Nov 4: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwara has ordered a comprehensive land survey of all properties of Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) by the end of March next year.

Speaking to media persons in Bengaluru on Saturday after a meeting with BDA officials, Dr Parameshwara, who is holding Home and Bengaluru Development portfolios, said the survey has been ordered to be completed in three months as there was no clear picture of the extent of land under the control of BDA in the city.

He said the High Court had directed the BDA to complete the notification for the Shivaram Karanth Layout and distribute sites in three months.

Of the 3,546 acres of land earmarked for the Shivaram Karanth Layout, as much as 800 acres are already available and the remaining land has to be acquired by issuing a notification for acquisition based on the current market rates. ``I have asked the officials to expedite the process of issuing notifications,’’ he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister made it clear that there was no need for any confusion over the construction of the 65-km-long Peripheral Ring Road project at an estimated cost of Rs 17,000 crore.

"Land acquisition alone would cost around Rs 6,200 crore,’’ Dr Parameshwara said indicating that provision for a Metro Rail Line in the middle of the 8-lane road has been made.

"The issue is under consideration within the BDA. The subject will be taken to the State Cabinet for approval shortly,’’ he said.

He said, "'Hakku Patras' (title deeds) for 4,971 out of the 5,000 sites to be distributed to beneficiaries in the Kempegowda Layout have already been issued. The beneficiaries can make the payment without payment of 18% penalty within three months. A proposal for extending the payment period by a month without any penalty will be taken up with the Chief Minister for a final decision," he said.

In the Arkavathy Layout, 3,600 persons had sought alternative sites and were accommodated in the Kempegowda Layout, which has resulted in some loss for the BDA, Dr Parameshwara said.

Vision 2050 on the anvil

The Deputy Chief Minister announced that a decision to create 'Vision 2050' document by revising the existing Vision 2030 plan has been taken.

Hosakote, Doddaballapura, Anekal and Dabaspete are proposed to link with the Peripheral Ring Road and townships will be built around the areas. This will help in reducing the pressure on the city and also help in development of satellite towns around the city, he explained.

He said the proposal to create the 'Vision 2050' is in the preliminary states of discussion. A final decision will be taken by the State Government, he said.

Construction of BDA Bhavan

The Deputy Chief Minister said a proposal to construct a BDA Bhavan to house its offices and safe-keeping of important documents is under consideration. "I have asked the BDA Commissioner to submit a formal proposal in this regard,’’ he added.
