Bengaluru: Shivakumar elated at Ballari victory, pledges to develop district

Bengaluru, Nov 7: State minister, D K Shivakumar, who was in-charge of Lok Sabha election held in Ballari constituency this time, is a happy man. Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday November 6, the minister expressed happiness and said that the people of the constituency reposed full confidence on the abilities of coalition candidate, V S Ugrappa. He thanked the people and wished them for Deepavali. He also said he is thankful to B Sriramulu for the peaceful and harmonious conduct of the election in Ballari constituency.

When expressing happiness at the fact that his strategies for the election worked well. Shivakumar said with this win, his responsibility has escalated. "I dedicate this victory to the legislators from Ballari district. I am not  ecstatic at this victory. My next aim is to achieve all-round development of Ballari district. I am not driven by individual desires but by the desire to achieve welfare of the people," he stated. Apparently reacting to certain comments made by his detractors about him, he said that he is aware that everyone who takes birth in this world will die one day, and he is certain that he too would die.

At the same time,  speaking at a press conference at Ballari on Tuesday, B Sriramulu, whose sister, J Shantha, a former member of parliament and BJP candidate, had to taste defeat in Ballari constituency, said that he had worked really hard for the victory of the BJP candidate but it did not turn out the way he expected. He said he is willing to take full responsibility for this debacle. He blamed Congress party of earning this win by distributing money and liquor to voters. He also accused coalition candidate, Ugrappa, of misusing government machinery.
