Shivamogga: Blackmailed by miscreants, lovers attempt suicide - boy dies

Shivamogga, Nov 22: Overwhelmed at having been blackmailed by miscreants, two lovers tried to end their lives by consuming poison near Mandaghatta lake in the taluk on. The boy died on Wednesday November 21 while the condition of the girl is critical.

Sanjay (21) from Mandaghatta was in love with a girl. The two often met and moved around together. A group of miscreants had secretly recorded their movements on video. They had threatened the couple of making the video public and had demanded payment of money to save them from social disgrace. They also had threatened to upload the video on the social websites if they did not pay money.

The couple, who felt threatened by the prospects of the honour of their families becoming laughing stock, had initially paid some money. But after the gang pressurized for more money, they consumed poison together on November 19. Both were admitted into Mcgann Hospital here by people who saw them in a critical situation. Sanjay breathed his last on Wednesday morning, while the girl is in serious condition.

The gang members, Yaseen, Yasir, Ayan and Usman have been booked by the personnel of Kumsi police station in the district on the allegation of blackmail and extortion of money.
