Sullia: Subrahmanya temple files case - alleges misuse of temple name

Sullia, Nov 23: A case of misuse of temple name and images stands registered in Subrahmanya police station in the taluk. The complaint has named A1 - logics website and Subrahmanya Samputa Narasimha Swamy Trust as the entities which have violated the rules.

As per the complaint, lodged by the executive officer of Lord Subrahmanya temople, M H Raveendra, the two organizations named above have been allegedly using pictures of the original idol of Lord Subrahmanya temple, Utsava Murty of the temple, temple arch, photos taken during the festivities etc without obtaining prior permission of the concerned.

Subrhamanya temple falls under Hindu Religious Endowments department. The complaint has accused a private firm, A1-logics of opening websites in the name of www.kukketemple.com and www.setmytour.com, and of trying to cause loss in the form of donations and offerings to the exchequer by privately conducting the pujas which otherwise should have been performed at the temple.

The deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district had instructed Kukke Lord Subrahmanya temple management to take legal steps against misusing the name of the temple illegally. A complaint to which the instructions of the deputy commissioner and website records were attached, was made by the temple executive officer, M H Raveendra, to district superintendent of police through whom it went to the cyber crime police station at Bunder, Mangaluru, on October 20.

The cyber crime police have since transferred the case to Subrhamanya police station. The Subrahmanya police have registered the case on November 17.
