Mangaluru: Mission Sunday held at Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail

Media Release

Mangaluru, Nov 28: The parishioners of Most Holy Redeemer Church, Derebail, celebrated Mission Sunday on November 24 and 25. All the associations and parish council members along with the parish priest and residential priests worked hand in hand in putting up a variety of items.

World Mission Sunday is a Sunday in the year when the entire global Church comes together in support of mission and all the donations from these worldwide masses go entirely to support churches, hospitals, schools and vocations in countries where the church is new, young or poor.

Mission Sunday is usually celebrated in the month of October every year in view of showing love and solidarity to our family in faith overseas. Through our prayers, we support missionaries everywhere in spreading the Good News. By donating, we respond to Christ’s call to feed the hungry and clothe the naked.

Major attractions were chicken kebab, biryani, cupcakes, sugarcane juice and more.

During the Sunday mass, children offered their secret collections. An auction was conducted on both the days. The members of Legion of Mary installed game stalls. All the parishioners extended their wholehearted support and cooperation.

Mission Sunday 2018 ended after a successful running of the programme. The wonderful teamwork of the two days received loads of appreciation and the hardwork and integral spirit of the entire gathering is expected to reach out to the deserving.
