Mangalore, Nov 29: The 'National Pharmacy week', jointly organized by Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Valachil, South Kanara District Chemists and Druggists Association (SKDC and DA) and Association of Community Pharmacists of India was held at Srinivas College of Pharmacy, Valachil on Friday November 28.
Speaking on the occasion, after inaugurating the programme Dr Prabhudev, chief, district Wenlock Hospital said that the pharmacists should consider their work as profession and not mere business.
The duty of pharmacists is not only to establish new medical shops. Pharmacists have lot of opportunity in and outside the country. The manner in which doctors depend on pharmacists has increased. The role of pharmacists therefore is of prime importance which brings in a lot more responsibility too, he opined.
There is a necessity to introduce ownership right in the field of medicine, said A Srinivas Rao, vice-president, A Shyama Rao Foundation.
A Raghavendra Rao, president, A Shyama Rao Foundation presided over the function.
Dr M A V Ansari, district assistant drug controller, Sridhar Kamat, president, SKDC and DA and D Shashikala R, secretary, A Shyama Rao Foundation were present on the occasion.
Dr C S Shastry, principal, Srinivas College of Pharmacy welcomed the gathering. Dr A R Shabaraya, organizer proposed vote of thanks.
