Mumbai, Dec 10: Kadandale Suresh S Bhandary, president of Karnataka Sangha, Asalfa inaugurated the renovated classroom of Kannada Vidya Bhavan at Ghatkoper west.
He said that it is easy to start a school but difficult to run. “The Kannada school in Asalfa started in 1965 had nearly 800 students in the beginning, but it only has about 75 students now. If English is taught with Kannada, the school can be continued as the institute,” he said.
Kannada school retired teacher and vice president of the Sangha, Yashodha Battapadi commended the efforts of the workers. She said that the process of starting an English medium school should be hastened now.
The president drew numbers of lucky dip winners in the hands of children. Activists who collected donations and helped in the renovation work, Sudhakar Shetty, Sathish Shetty, Vishwanath Dodmane, Rajavarma Jain and Srikanth Safaliga were presented flower bouquets and honored. Sadananda Safaliga explained the activities of the school and compered the programme. Vice president Jayaram G Rai welcomed the gathering and proposed the vote of thanks.
