Karwar: Congress Likely to Initiate Disciplinary Action against Shubhalata Asnotikar

Karwar, Dec 12: The Congress party is likely to initiate disciplinary action against its MLC Shubhalata Asonitikar, mother of fisheries minister Anand Asnotikar, who has filed her nomination papers as an independent candidate for the Karwar assembly seat.

Anand Asnotikar is the official candidate of the BJP from this constituency. The Congress has fielded its candidate from Karwar, and Shubhalata's action is tantamount to revolt against the party.

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee through a notice has asked Shubhalata to withdraw her nomination and work for the victory of its official candidate. If she fails to do so, she will have to forgo her seat in the legislative council, it has warned.
