8 students rushed to hospital, 3 in ICU after late-night stampede at Mumbai College fest

Mumbai, Dec 21 (PTI): Eight students suffered injuries following a stampede that broke out late on Thursday night during a concert held at Mithibai College in Mumbai’s Vile Parle.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said the stampede occurred at around 10.30 pm during the college’s annual Bachelor of Management Studies festival, Colosseum, when rapper Divine was performing on stage.

Two women and six men, between the ages of 20 to 24 years, were rushed to the RN Cooper Hospital with injuries mainly in the chest region, reported Hindustan Times. One student has suffered a rib fracture and three have been admitted to the surgical intensive care unit (SICU).

According to eyewitnesses, some outsiders tried to barge through the main gate to attend the event and the commotion led to a stampede-like situation.
