Mangaluru: Police succeed in arresting person, crack two chain snatching cases

Mangaluru, Dec 21: The city police have succeeded in arresting a person involved with snatching of two chains in separate incidents.

In the fist incident, a woman named Pushpa was walking by the road at Erame within Mooduperara village limits which fall under the jurisdiction of Bajpe polcie station on December 11 when a person who came in a scooter suddenly yanked away golden Karimani chain from her neck before fleeing. A case was registered in this regard in Bajpe station.

When Akshata from Hoigepadavu in Kolambe village was walking towards Bajpe from her residence along with her sister, Ashwita on December 17, a person who came there in Honda Activa scooter, extended his hand and snatched away a golden chain from her neck. A case about this incident was also filed in Bajpe police station.

After getting information that a man whose features matches with that of the thief was found near Balavandi Daivasthana Road in Mooduperara village, the police took him into custody and questioned him. The police recovered two gold chains valued at Rs 40,0000, a Honda Activea two-wheeler and Rs 3,700 in cash from the person, identified as Tilak (27), son of Rukmayya Gowda, resident of Padil, Kattalsar, Paduperara village here.

The operation was conducted by Bajpe police inspector, S Parashiva Murthy, and sub-inspector, Shankar Nairy and other staff, under the directions of assistant police commissioner, Manjunath Shetty, deputy police commissioner, Hanumantharaya and Uma Prashanth, as well as city police commissioner, T R Suresh.
