Udupi, Dec 22: Joint committee of labour organizations has decided to hold public protests on January 8 and 9, 2019.

“The current government at the centre passes economic reforms too fast. Farmers and labourers are facing problems because of that,” said committee convener Shanker.

Speaking in the press meet held on Friday, December 21, he said that ten central organizations, banks, insurance, BSNL and all organizations that work for the central and state governments will take part in the protests opposing anti farmer, anti labour, anti people and traitor like policies of the government.

“The government has pushed people to disaster by cutting down subsidies and cancelling ration system instead of stopping price rises. The government should start new industries and create jobs. The assurance of creating two crore jobs by the centre has become false. Even though two years have passed by after the recommendation of 7th pay commission that minimum salary of Rs 18,000 should be fixed, it is still not implemented.

“All the workers should be provided social security and retired workers should be paid minimum pensions of Rs 6,000. Farmers, labourers, bus owners, students and transport workers will take part in the protests."

State secretary Balakrishna Shetty, Vittal and others were present at the press conference.
