Mangaluru, Jan 4: Two students from St Agnes High school bagged first prize in state level science exhibition for High School Students and Science Teacher, held at Gadag.
Students Shane Priyanka Rodrigues and Leesha Crystal Rodrigues, class 10, students from St Agnes High school bagged first for their project on ‘Optimization of the production of green energy’.
It was a state level Science competition conducted by the Department of Public Instruction, Bengaluru at the District Institute of Education and Training, Gadag.
Explaining their project, Shane and Leesha said that this is mainly based on the adoption of active intelligent trackers to optimize the efficiency of the solar panel and windmills design adopting aerodynamic principles to absorb peak kinetic energy in order to minimize the cost of renewable energy. This aims to decrease the drawbacks like reducing the payback period as well as to save huge financial investment in installations of new project. Thereby saving a lot of land and reduce the disadvantage like wind fluctuates, installation cost, noise pollution, visual pollution and threat to wild life in case of wind mills.
