Mangaluru: Second standard student killed in accident involving pick-up truck

Mangaluru, Jan 30: In a tragic incident which happened at Chelur near Boliyar, Ullal, which happened on Tuesday January 29 morning, a seven-year-old boy lost his life. The accident happened after a pick-up truck loaded with sand hit the victim.

The boy who lost his life in this accident was Prathyush, son of Shankar Acharya from Boliyar Ammemmar. He was a student of Kalladka Sri Rama School. He had been accompanied by his mother to Chelur to board the school vehicle there for attending the school.

But after he boarded the vehicle, the van driver informed the boy that holiday had been declared for second standard students. By then, the student's mother had already crossed the road. The van driver then held the boy's hand and was helping him to cross the road when a pick-up truck which was heading from the direction of Melkar towards Mudipu hit the boy. Prathyush was killed on the spot.

A case relating to this accident was registered in the city (south) police station.
