Australia: Miranda Brothers' Final Journey on Jan 23

East Bentleigh, Australia, Jan 19: “Death is a distant rumour to the young” said Andy Rooney once.
And so it must be why some among the young live life to the fullest.

Ashish (24) and Akshay (22) definitely did. Both the young men from the Miranda family packed so much in their short lives that their early departure from this world has left a huge vacuum among the many people the Miranda brothers acquainted with during their brief 8 years of life in Australia.

Both loved sport. In particular squash and indoor soccer.

Ralph Nunes, a work colleague of Ashish and a close friend, reminisces his first day at the University when he met Ashish for the first time. "We were playing some impromptu soccer at lunch time and both banged our heads against each other. Ever since then, we have played soccer together and represented our University" says Nunes.

It was not just sports that characterised the brothers.

"They were absolutely brilliant in their studies" says Jason Mendonsa, who still struggles to come to terms with the death of the two brothers, especially his best buddy and squash partner, Ashish.

Jason's thoughts on the academic brilliance of the two brothers are echoed by Nunes. "Ashish and I studied together at the University over four years. Then we did a technically challenging course in composite materials last year. Ashish was one of the few people who managed to understand what was going on and answer all the homework problems. And just like in the good old days of Uni, he'd pass on the solutions to me because I was too lazy to attempt them.

[After the studies] we started working at Boeing [Australia] together. Ashish was well on his way to becoming a top engineer", adds Nunes.

Despite the normal rigours of studies in Aerospace Engineering, Ashish and his mates took part in the Annual AHS/Industry/NASA Design Competition - designing a helicopter.

"The team toiled for more than a year at the Aerospace Centre investigating all helicopters on the world inventory and closely identifying the critical design requirements of a future trainer helicopter" according to the University.

The team won the second place.

Akshay, equally recognised for his discipline in studies, was still at the University.

Their love for sports and education did not mean that they missed out on social life. They managed to make many friends through their pervasive sense of enthusiasm and exuberance.

"I'm so upset right now, my head is filled with strange emotions", says Ryan Mutch who met Akshay for the first time at high school. "I wish he had lived a bit more 'cause he was destined for great things. I'm in pain just thinking about it. All I think about is this sweet caring guy that did nothing to hurt anyone in this world, all he did was be his best. So I'm going to remember him as the best..." he trails off.

Nunes expresses similar thoughts about Ashish. "Ashish got along well with everyone. It still hasn't sunk in that he is gone. There was no one else like him.

I know it's going to hit me hard when I return to work and don't see him passing down the hallway every hour to have a coffee. I'll miss everything about him from his strange sense of humour, his homework solutions and most importantly his infectious love of life".

"Ashish was one of the nicest guys you would ever meet.  Always ready to listen to peoples problems and give good advice and was very dedicated to his work", says Horatio Cardoz, another Boeing co-employee of Ashish.

However, time has arrived to bid a final goodbye to Ashish and Akshay.

The Mangalorean Catholic Association of Victoria, Inc (MCAV), representing the Mangalorean Catholic community in Melbourne, joins the grieving parents, Ronnie and Winnie Miranda, in making the following announcement about the funeral service.

I am just back from a well atteded funeral service of Ashish and Akshay . The parents Ronnie & Winnie shared memories of their sons & were very calm & composed during the service. But when the coffins were carried out there was not a single dry eye in the church. The students from St. James & St. Bedes where the boys  studied , stood guard of honour on their departed friends. To their friends,  Ashish was 'Ash' & Akashay was 'Aka'. The students have now returned to  St. James college for the 'Wake' to celebrate the lives of A & A.  The journey of the boys is over . But let us pray for Ronnie and Winnie so they pick up their lives and move ahead.  They very bravely looked up to heaven and said 'Thy Will Be Done'.

Mere words cannot convey the over whelming feelings of shock, disbelief, numbness, and despair that can result from such tragic unexpected losses and no one is ever totally prepared for the death of a loved one. But the Bible makes this comforting promise: Jehovah is near to those that are broken at heart and those who are crushed in spirit he saves” (Psalm 34:18) Also it teaches us that the dead will live again. While Jesus was on earth, he showed that he is able to resurrect the dead, so may the God of all comfort give you the courage and the strength to cope the tragic loss of your two sons.

Dearest Aunty Winnie and Uncle Ronnie, I grieve with you in your loss. I feel so blessed that I was able to get to know Ashish and Akshay the last time I visited Australia. I am glad I will be able to see you soon and attend the funeral. I am also glad my mother was able to be with you so quickly in order to provide support. So many of us here in the States are praying for you both, even those who never met the boys. May God be with you at this sad time. I love you both.

Dear Miranda Family, It is indeed very sad to know the loss of your precious sons. No words could be comforting but only the words found in the precious book our BIBLE. It is true, that no parents can bear the this loss and so is also with or creator who has the similar feelings, but Friends, you can be assured by the comforting words of our creator Jehovah God, he will never forget the dead ones, this is a temporary loss but Revelation 21:4 Gives us a wonderful hope for the future, a hope that is soon to be fullfilled, also Jesus' comforting words recorded in John 5:28,29 Gives us the assurance that your boys will be back in resurrection, and you will have nothing to cry, your tears will be wiped off forever. Hope these scriptures what God has provided touch your heart, strengthen you both to look forward to see the fullfillment, and this is a promise from above, So we have every reason to believe it, we can also have the hope, a solid hope that will never fail.

I am deeply saddened. No words or wealth would compensate the loss to their parents. God shall give the bereaved parents strength to overcome this grief and lead a normal life. Every life has death, but the way it has come to these two young brothers is very very cruel. May God bless the departed soul and admit them unto His Mercy - aameen.

When I looked at the family picture, it looked so perfect and the boys were so promising. It's all planned by Almighty. The boys were so brilliant and helpful to their peers and above all good children to their parents. God planned it so perfect. It's a great loss to their parents, relatives & friends and no one can ever take their place. Whilst I express my heartfelt sympathies to the grieving family, I also remember the parents in my prayers because only He can help you to come out of it.

Dear Miranda Family, Very sad to know about your sons, I know what you all are going through I can understand when I put myself in your situation. Please be assured that, your sons are not gone forever, you know we are living in the last days of this wicked system of things and Gods words says that Unforseen occurences befalls many. But Bible gives us very good hope, very soon Almighty God Jehovah is going to bring his kingdom thru his son Jesus Christ on this very earth and all those in memorial tomb will hear Jesus voice and they come back to life. So it says further we are temporary residents in this world, we will live our life to the fullest only under Gods kingdom.

No words are sufficient to express this loss. All we can do is to bow down to Almighy's will and pray that Almighty grant them enough strength to withstand this unbearable loss. While the whole mangalorean community world over is standing by the Miranda family in this grief, it is also a great part by MCAV lead by Bert Naik for standing by them in this hour of need.
