Mumbai, Apr6: Shivaji Ragade and Jayashree, a couple from Ullasnagar, had found a three-month-old baby boy on December 30 last year. The baby, who was abandoned, injured and stuffed inside a bag, was found near the riverside at Ambernath. The couple on seeing this heartthrobbing scene, rushed him to hospital to provide immediate treatment.

The couple had named him ‘Tiger’ as an ode to his fighting spirit.

The child was admitted to the NICU in Wadia hospital where he was diagnosed with a brain infection on January 28. He was diagnosed Meningitis and Ventriculitis which caused obstruction in his brain and affected the circulation of cerebrospinal fluid.

Through crowd-funding, Rs 10 lac was collected in a single day for the treatment of the child. “I am very happy today that our hospital doctors were able to save Baby Tiger and he is ready for discharge on such an auspicious occasion of Gudi Padwa. After discharge, he will be regularly monitored for the growth of his head and overall development,” Said Dr Minnie Bodhanwala, CEO of Wadia Hospital.

“The baby is recovering on a speedy note, he was weighed just 1.8 kg at the time of admission and now weighs 3.4 kg,” doctors said.

“It was because of the collective effort of all, that the baby is fit for discharge and we pray for his bright and healthy future.” Shivaji Ragade, a social worker, expressed his gratitude.

The baby will be handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) after discharge.

Very heart wrenching .People shouldnt plan a child and later abandone it somewhere in a critical stage because it is sick or lack of money.Children are innocent. They cant choose a parent.Thank God this child is survived because of kind hearted people helped.May God bless him and give him a good future.
