No Personal Disputes with Rajnath: Jaitley

Bangalore, Mar 22: BJP national general secretary Arun Jaitley on Saturday denied there are any 'personal' disputes between him and the party's national president Rajnath Singh.

Speaking at a press conference at NMKRV College, Jaitley refused to comment on his differences with Rajnath Singh, saying that public forums are not the place to discuss internal matters of the party.

However, he said that he had no disputes with Rajnath Singh on personal grounds. “Whatever political issues are there, we will resolve in the party forum. We stick to the party discipline,” Jaitley said.

Speaking on the issue of Varun Gandhi’s controversial remarks, Jaitley said, he (Varun) has replied to the Election Commission saying that his CD was doctored, and the party will wait for the response from the EC.

Flaying the Congress, the BJP general secretary said that the Congress can be described as a party, which is unclear of its precise leadership. It has differences with its allies.

“There are two power centres in Congress - de jure and de facto,” Jaitley quipped.

Jaitley refused to comment on the infighting in Janata Dal (United), a key ally of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), saying it is the internal matter of the party. He said there are at least nine states where the BJP will have direct fight with the Congress; whereas in Bihar, Assam and Maharashtra, the party will fight the battle along with their allies.

At loggerheads

Referring to the third front, Jaitley said, “There is a group of political parties coming together but they are all at loggerheads and they lack issues. The third front is keeping options open till the elections are over.”

About the battle in Bangalore South constituency, with speculation that Congress leader S M Krishna may be contesting against the BJP’s four-time Member of Parliament Ananth Kumar, he said that a former CM coming to fight the polls shows how important Ananth Kumar is at the national level.

Jaitley gave a brief description of the Nation First campaign, which involves professionals and young talents to support the Bharatiya Janata Party  in the election and bring the middle class people to the polling booths.

He informed mediapersons that the campaign is meant for giving a political platform to the young talents, who want to contribute to the country by participating in the election process.

Replying to a question on why the young people would be attracted to the party when there is spate of moral policing in the State, Jaitley said the party dissociates itself with those incidents and the government has ordered for a stern action against the culprits.
