Beltangady: Dharmasthala Citizens Angry over Police Cases

Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady (SP)

Beltangady, May 4: A local court has granted bail to the 15 Andhra policemen, against whom cases had been registered for behaving unlawfully and abetting the murder of a youth in Dharmasthala on Friday evening. As already reported, Bhikshamaya and Suvarnaraj, the two Andhra CRPF personnel who are charged with being directly responsible for the murder, have been remanded to 15 days judicial custody. It is learnt, the court took a lenient view and granted bail to 15 other policemen, as they were not directly involved with the murder and that they are required to attend to security duties relating the next phase of polling in Tamil Nadu.

In the meanwhile, the policemen have registered case against about 250 citizens of Dharmasthala, based on a complaint filed by the Andhra policemen. The youths who were playing cricket in Dharmasthala and with whom the guilty policemen were involved in a verbal altercation that ended with the policemen firing at them, were subjected to interrogation by the local policemen on Sunday May 3. Some of the youths are being treated in hospitals, while over 30 got themselves treated, claiming to have been injured.

The citizens of Dharmasthala have expressed anger at the fact that the policemen are taking a tough stand against them.

Mukesh Dubai your views are absurd. But agree with one view that no body will listen to these people. It is not because they are not minority but because they are common, poor, voiceless citizen. If some local MLA, MP, businessman, influential personalities child or relative would have died then the action would have been different.

Those who have called for bandh are puppet of the leaders whose only goal is to manipulate the situation. Fully sympathize with the bereaved members of the family as the wife lost her husband, children lost their father, parents lost their son. This loss nobody can compensate.

An unnecessary comment, giving a communal tone by Mukesh Dubai, over a sad and tragic event. The point to be discussed and debated here is Police reforms. Some say that our Police are poorly armed, yet see what happens when they are allowed to carry arms. Most of our Police force today is semi literate and come from poor backgrounds.Educated youth never opt to join the Police. Police reforms are urgently required where the Police force is built from amongst the educated youth, provide them proper training, pay them very good salaries, so that they do not indulge in corrupt practices, have regular counselling and other welfare mesaures in place. This alone will prevent such unfortunate incidents from recurring. In some US states students while pursuing their studies work as volunteers with the local Police. They are given an insight into the workings of the Police and many later join the force. Such schemes should be started by our government which will lure our youth.

This shows the inaction & double standard of ruling BJP? State BJP Govt should intitiate firm actions against the culprits, but what we find is Yuddi as usual crying on somebodys lap. This time it is Andhra CM, asking him to take action.

Mr.Mukesh is right. If this would have happened in a Christian or Muslim area, all top leaders would have come to see like Sonia, Renuka Chowdary, Manmohan Singh..etc and news would have come everyday as top headlines in NDTV & Times news. So guys, since you are Hindus, this is a joke for leaders. Like Deve gowda said, in your next birth, you should be born as a Muslim to enjoy in India.
