Mangaluru: Stop illegal cattle trafficking, crush drugs cartel - Khader tells police

Mangaluru, Jul 2: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister U T Khader, told the police in unequivocal terms that the police officers of respective stations would be dealt with sternly if they fail to crush with iron hand the menace of drugs trafficking, illegal cattle trafficking, and other criminal activities. He said that police officers found to be deficient in discharging their duties will face punitive measures.

He was speaking to media persons after participating in a special meeting he held at the office of the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district here on Monday July 1. MLAs from the district, district administration, and police department officials participated in the meeting.

Khader said that he wants drugs, illegal cattle trafficking, illegal sand transportation and all other crimes to be reined in. He instructed the police to take strict action in an honest and legally admissible way. "We have to win over the confidence of the people. The meeting wanted the police to keep a close vigil on the people found to be taking part in criminal activities repeatedly," Khader stated. He asked the district superintendent of police and city police commissioner to hold discussions and issue suitable guidance to control crime. He also asked people not to take law into their hands.

MLAs Vedavyas Kamath, Umanath Kotian, Rajesh Naik, deputy commissioner Sasikanth Senthil, city police commissioner Sandeep Patil, and superintendent of police Laxmi Prasad, were present at the meeting.
