Cash, jewellery worth Dh 62,000 stolen from firm in Dubai

Dubai, Jul 3: Cash and gold jewellery worth Dh 62,000 were stolen by a gang of seven members from a private company in the city, an official said on Tuesday. At the time of the incident there were two people present in the firm located in Deira.

As per Gulf News, chief prosecutor Mohammad Hassan Abdul Rahim said, “The man and his sister were inside the company owned by their brother when one of the suspects knocked at the door asking for the company’s owner. The man told him that their brother was not in, following which one of the suspects punched him. Soon other suspects came in, turned off the lights, closed the door and physically assaulted the man. The suspects then stole the victim’s wallet, assaulted his sister when she refused to give her bag to them before stealing Dh 50,000 from a drawer. They stole Dh 2,200 from the victims, three gold necklaces and one gold ring worth Dh 7,000 and 60,000 Indian rupees (Dh3,000)."

Dubai police have identified and arrested six of the suspects while the seventh one who is allegedly the brain behind the robbery is still at large, said prosecutor Khalid Al Ameri, from Deira prosecution.

The arrested suspects whose nationalities and ages were not disclosed were charged with theft and referred to Dubai Court of First Instance for trial.
