Mangalore: ICS Qualifying Examination Course Inaugurated at KCCI Centre

Mangalore, May 24: The Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers’ qualifying examination course was inaugurated at the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Exim Felicitation Centre on Saturday May 23. 

Captain Neel J Nair, chairman of ICS, Chennai Chapter, inaugurated the course by lighting the lamp. 

He said, “The shipping business needs high professionalism as it has a worldwide reach. So, ICS helps business men acquire professional methods to achieve their goals and to secure excellence. The ICS qualifying exams for help achieve this through the exams and through the membership.” Captain Nair is a fellow member in ICS.  

“Getting the professional qualification as a fellow from ICS helps the shipbrokers get various opportunities at an international level”, he said.  

The ICS is a London-based company which has a chapter in Chennai. For the first time KCCI has provided the opportunity to city-based ship businessmen to be a part of it.         

Captain John Prasad Menezes, the former president of KCCI, and the fellow member of ICS, introduced the guests and gave a brief introduction about ICS. 












He said, “It is an opportunity to get an international qualification for city-based shipbrokers and the businessmen”. He also said that being in a port city, businessmen of this place maximize the potential opportunities.  

Shiva Kumar, manager, administration and education, ICS, Chennai, was also present.

Neel J Nair gave a talk on ‘Turning Professional in the Shipping Industry Through ICS’, and Shiva Kumar presented a talk on ‘All You Need to Know About the Course Fees and Exams’. 

Capt Menezes talked on ‘The Way Ahead—Plans and Targets’. An interaction was also held after the presentations.  

Shrinivas S Kamath, KCCI, presided over the function. B Chandrakanth Rao proposed the vote of thanks for the inaugural session. The classes for the examinations will begin from Monday June 1.
