It is individual choice. In a democracy, do what you feel right. No dictators, no slaves, no apeasing anyone.

Ms. Huda you are on the track. In India it is misunderstood that religious harmony means do what other communities are doing. I have seen people who participate in other communities festival for the sake of their own benifit. If Mr. Shetty did participate in lighting the candles in a church, it was for his own benifit or I can guess it is Mr. Shetty''s childhood play. Religious harmony is not by following others religion but respecting them and allowing them to practice. Finally, if you want to practice what others practice, you have the liberty to do so.

Come on Huda tomorrow you will say that Muslim & Hindu neighbours should not exchange sweets during the Deevali & Eid festivals. Wake up and be in the real world. Why you feel insecure while people from the different religions stay united, help each other and involve in each others festivals religious functions.

When I was a boy my parants never objected me for visiting churches and lighting candles in front of mother Mary''s statue and I remain very much Hindu today and do respect other religions also.

Dear Huda, As India is a democratic country you have your right to express your opinion. However if an individuals in the intention of promoting religious harmony and peace take part in religious functions of other faith such intention must be encouraged. Let me remind my sister Huda that promotion of peace and harmony in society is not against any religion.

This issue is really debatable. As a Christian I would find it impossible to agree to perform Namaaz or partake in Hindu pooja, while I have utmost respect for every faith.Secularism means respect, honour and freedom to every faith and culture. In the West,Secularism means Faithless governance. In the West,You may be a Christian but as far as governance is concerned you act as though there is no God.Atleast that is the impression I get, from western practise of freedom of press that begets pornography and other vices. But in India, religious fervor is imbedded in society. It is this aspect every political party or individual is trying to exploit to the full.I think, thier show off in performing Pooja or offering Namaaz is nothing but hypocracy. If at all these individuals were persons of Characterand substance, I dont think they would partake in such cheap gimmicks. India is a awesome nation of different faiths and cultures. It is like a beautiful Garden containing every variety of fruits and flowers. As citizens we ought to cherish and nurture this gift.Having said that we can not expect, rice fields to produce wheat, apple trees to produce mangoes etc.But be what you are and bear fruit that builds a nation and a healthy soceity.

Secularism is giving equal respect to every religion person, their beliefs, traditions and culture. Offering Poojas, Mass or Namaz to apease other religion persons is purely hypocratic politics.
