Kasargod, Aug 9: In an incident which happened as Hosangady, Manjeshwar, close to Karnataka border, a person suffered serious injuries on Wednesday August 8 night after a gang fired at him. The injured man, who was in serious condition, was admitted into a hospital at Mangaluru. From there, his relatives shifted him to a hospital at Ernakulam, it is learnt.

A gang of goondas appear to have been involved with this crime. The injured has been identified as Sirajuddin (40), son of Abdulla - Khadeeja couple from Goliyady in Charladka, Badiadka in the district.

The incident remained in wraps for a long time. It is said that the gang, after admitting Sirajuddin into a hospital at Mangaluru, fled after informing his relatives about his condition.

The police, who took up investigation, came to know that the car which Sirajuddin was occupying had come to Hosangady from Mangaluru. As the bullet hit Sirajuddin in the neck region, his condition is said to be serious. Therefore, his relatives took a decision to shift him to Amritha Hospital at Ernakulam, it is said. The Maneshwar police got information about the incident from the hospital.

Sirajuddin is not in a position to provide any information currently, the police said. He is in need of emergency surgery. Some people close to the injured person claimed that he was shifted too Ernakulam as the bullet which entered his neck could not be extracted at Mangaluru.

The injured Sirajuddin has criminal antecedents, it is gathered. He has been named as accused in several cases. The police said that currently their investigation is centred on some local ganja mafia gangs.
