Mangaluru: Seminar on waste management held at St Joseph’s Seminary

Media Release

Mangaluru, Aug 13: A seminar on waste management was organized in St Joseph’s Seminary on the August 6.

Fr Milton Jacob the resident staff of the seminary was the speaker of the day. The seminar had threefold purpose. Firstly, the students were made aware of the poisonous scenario our country is currently witnessing due to the improper management of waste. Secondly, real life examples of Indian citizens who have made wealth out of waste were screened from the reality show ‘Satya Meva Jayate’ hosted by actor Amir Khan. And thirdly, concrete measures to manage the litter in the seminary were discussed.

Fr Leo Lasrado, the administrator of the seminary, during the interaction session took suggestions regarding the issue from the students themselves. The interaction culminated with two concrete measures, i.e. to drastically reduce the use of plastic and to take the segregation of dry and wet waste on a very serious note.
