Udupi, Aug 13: Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Kundapur on Sunday August 11 held a deanery level youth convention 'Yuva Samagam 2019' at Millenium Hall Trasi.
The deanery-level programme comprised of an inaugural ceremony, followed by a session on Small Christian Communities (SCC) and its methodology.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting a lamp by the chief guest, Fr Herald Pereira, director of SCC, Udupi diocese, Fr Albert Crasta, director, ICYM Kundapur deanery, Fr Alphonses D’Lima, parish priest, Kota followed by other dignitaries on the dais namely Shanthi Olivera, animator, ICYM Trasi unit, Dion D’Souza president, ICYM Udupi diocese, Vinodh D'Souza, nominated member of ICYM Udupi diocese, Arthur Dias, president, ICYM Kundapur deanery Hancy D’Mello secretary, ICYM Kundapur deanery and Loyston Crasta, president, ICYM Trasi unit.
Fr Albert Crasta and Dion D’Souza addressed the gathering on 'National Youth Sunday' and congratulated everyone for their presence in a big number.
Fr Herald Pereira director of SCC, Udupi diocese, was the resource person for the event.
Thereafter, a eucharistic celebration was held for the youth. Representatives from all the units of Kundapur deanery took part in the liturgy.
Post lunch, ICYM groups from eight units participated in a Bible Quiz competition. Spot games were also conducted for the youth.
The valedictory function was presided over by Fr Stany Tauro, dean, Kundapur deanery. Other dignitaries on the dais were Fr Charles Louis parish priest, Trasi parish, Fr Herald Pereira director of SCC, Udupi diocese, Fr Albert Crasta, director ICYM Kundapur deanery. Shanthi Olivera, animator, ICYM Trasi unit, Vinodh D’Souza nominated member, ICYM Udupi diocese, Arthur Dias, president, ICYM Kundapur deanery and Hancy D’Mello secretary, ICYM Kundapur deanery and Loyston Crasta, president, ICYM Trasi unit.
Members of different units of Kundapur deanery shared their opinions about the programme.
ICYM Gangolli unit won first place in quiz competition, while ICYM Padukone unit and ICYM Byndoor unit won second and third place respectively.
Loyston Crasta welcomed the gathering and Hancy D’Mello delivered the vote of thanks.
