Puttur, Aug 16: The Association of Civil Engineers team led by its president, Kishore Kumar, visited the Tenkila hillock area near here where a huge crack has appeared on the earth's surface and villagers are worried about the possibility of earthquake and landslide. The team which inspected the crack said that there is no possibility of the crack posing any danger to the people.

The team said that there is no need to fear as the spot has mixture of mud and stones. As there are no drains in the area to allow free flow of excess water. The earth has opened up to a width of one inch. They noted that the hillock by the side of the crack made of laterite stone has not faced any peril. Therefore, solution for the problem is provision of proper drain to allow flow of excess water, the team stated.

Senior civil engineer from here, K Vasant Bhat, also said that a report will be submitted to the municipality here after holding discussions at the meeting of the organization relating to technical aspects to be attended at the spot. He said that this is a temporary problem and there is no need to panic.
