Bangalore, Jul 18: The state cabinet, at its meeting held on Friday July 17, gave its clearance for the MPs to hoist red lights on their official vehicles, while restricting the same in case of other users. The state is aiming at controlling the unbridled use of mounted lights of various colours by unauthorized users.

As per the decision now taken, no one other than the chief Minister, ministers, MPS and eligible officers can sport mounted lights on their vehicles. The state has also reportedly decided to bar the mutt heads from using these kinds of lights on their vehicles.

The order will also apply to the green lights sported by the Raita Sangh leaders and the blue ones of the Bahujan Samaj Party. The regional transport officers have been empowered to strictly enforce the order. Even the chairmen of the boards and corporations have been barred from using mounted lights.

The cabinet also decided to shift Bangalore Turf Club from its central location to Chikkajala on the Airport road, where it will be allotted 85 acres of land. The salary of the chairman of Karnataka Public Service Commission was hiked to Rs 90,000 from the current Rs 80,000 and that of its members, to Rs 80,000 from the present Rs 70,000.
