Bangalore: BBM Course at St Anthony’s Institutions, Kengeri Inaugurated

Bangalore, Jul 23: Karnataka Capuchins formally stepped into the field of Higher Education with the Inauguration of Bachelor of Business Management course at St Anthony’s Institutions, Darshan College of Commerce and Management, Kengeri, Bangalore on Monday, July 20.

The inaugural function began with the prayer of Rabindranath Tagore. All the dignitaries on the dais formally declared open the academic year with the lighting of the lamp amidst bhajan chants.

Fr Joachim D’Souza, Executive Secretary of Capuchin Education Board (CEB) explained the aims and objectives of Capuchin Education Board. Fr Lawrence D’Souza, Prinicipal of Milagres College, Mangalore and vice president of Headmasters’ & Principals’ Association, Karnataka, who was the chief guest of the inaugural function gave useful guidelines to run a degree college and shared with the audience his own experience as a teacher for 25 years. Dr Fr Vincent Furtado, Provincial Minister of Karnataka Capuchins in his presidential address gave voice to Capuchins’ commitment of striving to make the lives of less privileged in the society better.

Guest of honour Anthony Devaraj, Deputy Registrar, Bangalore University expressed his satisfaction at the progress made by Capuchins in the field of education. Dr Fr Anil Sequeira, Rector of Darshan Institute of Theology, Bangalore and Sr Veena, UFS, Headmistress, Gnanabodhini High School, Kengeri were the other guests of honour.

Fr Chetan Lobo, the director of the college welcomed the dignitaries and guests. Fr Veerus Concessao, principal of the college proposed the vote of thanks. Bruno Leitao compered the programme.

St Anthony’s Institutions are all set to begin pre-university college education (Commerce & Arts) and BCom from the next academic year.
