Dharwad, Jul 25: The contempt of court petition filed against a few government officials, relating to the handing over of the management of Gokarn Lord Mahabaleshwar Temple to Ramachandrapur Mutt came up for hearing on Friday July 24. The Circuit Bench of the state High Court adjourned the hearing in the case to Augut 11.

All the four officials accused in the case, have confessed to their mistakes. The government prosecutor, who appeared on behalf of the government, filed an affidavit regarding the confession in the Curcuit Bench, duly praying for lenience and condonation.  Advocates Subrahmanya Jois and J A Shetty, representing temple trustee Balachandra Deekshit, vehemently opposed the prayer for condonation.  They requested the court not to excuse the mistakes committed by the officials and asked it to issue directions to the officials to set right the mistakes they had committed. They also sought time to file objections for the prayer.

The division bench of the local Circuit Bench of the High Court, comprising of Justice B V Nagaratna and Justice Manjuna Chellur, after hearing the arguments of both the sides, adjourned the hearing to August 11.
