Billawas Dubai to Distribute Scholarships to 240 Students in Mangalore

Billawas Dubai to Distribute Scholarships to 240 Students in Mangalore

bY Shodhan Prasad

Dubai, Jul 28: Billawas Dubai & Northern Emirates, one of the largest organizations for Billawas in Dubai, has wholeheartedly come forward to release and distribute over Rs.6.5 lakh to the needy and deserving community students back in India.

The selection of students was handled by an independent NGO who have finalized the said list of 240 needy students, out of a flood of applications received by BDNE year after year.  Members of this NGO called Guru Narayana Charitable Trust have visited homes of each and every student to make sure that the education help reaches the deserving and needy students.  Billawas Dubai & Northern Emirates are one of the few organizations doing such a great job every year and are proud to say that they are able to assist these needy students, though the number of recipients gets doubled every year.

As put by BDNE representative, “Our sole aim of running this organization here in UAE is to support our community in the field of education and medical help for the really needy back home and we have a strong team to realize this.”

Billawas Dubai and Northern Emirates have been doing this charity work for many years and are now recognized by fellow Billawas back in India whose positive response is regularly received at BDNE management in the UAE'

Talking on education, the BDNE spokesman said, “Education is very important since it is the process of putting one’s potentials to maximum use. Training of human mind is not complete without education. Education makes man think right. and helps him/her to take decisions".  He added, “Through the attainment of education, one can receive information from the external world; to acquaint himself/herself with past history and receive all necessary information regarding the present.”

"It is a known fact that unfortunately not everyone has an opportunity to receive this formal type of education. There are not enough resources to provide schooling. Furthermore because parents need their children to help them work in factories, have odd jobs, or just do farm work on account of financial burden.  But no matter what, education is the key that allows people to move up in the world, seek better jobs, and ultimately succeed fully in life. Education is very important, and no one should be deprived of it.  If community organizations and leaders take initiative and work for the betterment of their community, in either small or big way, one day we will definitely see a better status in the whole structure and strong India," he furher said in conclusion.

Apart from other activities, Billawas Dubai & NE have taken this bold initiative to help the needy children of their community to pursue their chosen field of education so that they become responsible citizens of their country.

It is commendable that the education scholarship floated by the BDNE every year is an assurance from them to these needy children to concentrate more on studies without having to worry about the school fees during any stage of their studies and later progress in their life.

This year Billawas Dubai & NE will be releasing and distributing education scholarship ranging from Rs 3000 to 20,000 to 240 needy students pursuing various disciplines like Medicine, Engineering, Nursing, Technical Course, Degree courses and Pre-University course.

BDNE have announced that the Scholarship Function will be held on August 16, 2009 in the Glass House, Shri Gokarnanatha Kshetra's Kudroli Temple Complex in Mangalore. The function will be graced by Shri Vikhyatananda Swamiji, Jaya C Suvarna, President of Billawa Maha Mandala, Prof Ganesh Amin of St Aloysius College, H S Sairam, President of Shri Kshetra Kudroli, Vishwanath Amin, Trustee, Guru Narayana Charitable Trust, who will release and distribute the scholarships.  Besides, representatives of various Billawa Sanghas in and around Mangalore and Udupi district will be attending this function.

Amarnath, Krishnapura / Dubai it is not question of 1 or more organization. Each area will have different organization with different name to serve community. We need to look on them how well they are contributing to the society rather than how they need to do. Narayan Guru has also preached do something good to society. However it may come, it is good to society.

There is saying in Sanskrit “Vidhya dhanam sarva dhanat pradhanam” which means Knowledge is the best form of wealth. As per renowned Indian thinkers Education or knowledge can not be confiscated by king, it can not be stolen by dacoits, it is not divided among siblings, it doesn’t cause any weight, and it increases by sharing.

I believe people who are helping others to earn education are doing a divine job and the value of this good work doubles when it is given to the needy people. BDNE, you are doing this right job. Keep up the good work, may the blessings from the people you have helped so far lead you to do more such good things for the society. Congratulations to president and all the members of BDNE, and wish you all the best for your future activities…

Dear Mr. Amarnath, Krishnapura, I would like to clarify that Billawas Dubai has been doing scholarship distribution in the month of July/August each year for many years. Since past 3 years, the number of students applying for scholarship kept increasing and we obliged. This is not in reaction to action by any team. This is part of our yearly activity. Out of these 240 students around 70 are regular recipients of our scholarship.

Daijiworld has always supported us by providing good coverage for all our charity events. Members of Guru Narayana Charitable trust have put in lot of hardwork in identifying the deserving students. Lot of pain and effort is being put in by members of BDNE team in mobilizing the funds required for this noble cause. I hope things are clear now. Well as far working as one team. Well I can only say that "well Said". - Mohan Attavar, President, BDNE.

AS we all know education is very important and necessary for all there are still people out there who are craving for it unable to get it... this is an appreciable step by the Billawas UAE who are indirectly providing knowledge to so many people deserving it. Cheers to these guys...U are doing a holy job and may this be continued giving an opportunity to gain and spread knowledge.... :-)
